Highway 67 Through Cripple Creek

This is a wonderful half-day trip or you can make it a full-day trip to Cripple Creek. The 45-mile drive from The St Mary’s Inn Bed & Breakfast in downtown Colorado Springs is one of the most scenic views in southern Colorado. Once entering highway 67 you will start seeing the beautiful aspens all the way up the winding roads to Cripple Creek, a must-stop is the historic mining town of Cripple Creek. Once there, a visit is warranted to the Cripple Creek Heritage Center, views from the windows are spectacular. Continue to the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine surrounded by shades of orange and yellow.

Mueller State Park

Just 3.5 miles off Hwy 24 on Hwy 67, Mueller State Park is a favorite half-day adventure to experience Colorado’s aspen color change. Mueller State Park has a good variety of hiking trails, camping and picnic areas.  The trails at Mueller seem to be unlimited. You can hike as long as you want. On the way back to town, there are many places to stop and eat and drink. It’s the perfect afternoon.

Pikes Peak Highway

Take the trip up Pikes Peak Highway for a breath of fresh mountain air and breathtaking golden Aspens. Not only is the mountain drive enjoyable, the colors really make it worthwhile. For just a small fee, the Pikes Peak Highway will take you from Cascade to the summit of Pikes Peak.  Along the drive you can stop at lakes, hiking and picnic areas.
